Song of the Week

Happy October, my fellow sisters and brothers in Christ! Can you believe we are in the 4th quarter of this year? This is my favorite time of year because it grows colder and I can finally wear my fall favorites. I’m grateful to God for bringing me this far into the year. Although it seems like turmoil is all around, I can always look to my Father God for joy and refuge.

And that’s why I’m sharing with you, this Song of the Week: “In Your Midst” by Allie Paige. This song, released in 2017, fully captures what I have been feeling for the past couple of weeks.

I just want to be in the presence of God.

There’s no other space, present, place like it. When we give it all over to God, and surrender in His presence, you can feel peace wash over you. Joy entering your heart. The light, which is Jesus, shines through the darkness. The Bible says in John 8:12, “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” “

However, the chorus is my favorite part of this song!

So hide me deep inside your heart, Lord
Cover me with your wings
Bring me into safety
Bring me into fellowship with who you are, Lord
Father, Son and Spirit
This is all I long for, oh

Immediately my mind went to Psalm 91:4, ” He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” My God, My God! I could take off running right now!

But, Allie Paige truly embodied what it means to have a longing for God and His presence. So I encourage all of you, if you haven’t been in God’s presence lately, this is your call to action. Go to your closet, or you space that you have and seek God’s face. Ask for the Holy Spirit to enter into your heart so that you can know God more.

O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my body yearns for You in a dry and weary land without water. – Psalm 143:6
