The Importance of the Remnant

“Yet behold, there shall be left in it a remnant who will be brought out, both sons and daughters; surely they will come out to you, and you will see their ways and their doings. Then you will be comforted concerning the disaster that I have brought upon Jerusalem, all that I have brought upon it. And they will comfort you, when you see their ways and their doings; and you shall know that I have done nothing without cause that I have done in it,” says the Lord God.”

Ezekiel 14:22-23 NKJV

“For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.”

Isaiah 54:10 NKJV

God keeps His promises, every single one. However we are in question on the receiving side of these covenants. How do we remain inside the remnant when these covenants are made?

Two Words: Obey God.

See also, Revere Him.

Oppositional defiance or outright disrespect doesn’t cut it with God. He requires your focus; full attention that only He should capture, yet we freely give to other things/idols leaving Him to the side. If we were set aside for His purpose, why are we fulfilling our will and not His?

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!””

Lamentations 3:22, 24 NKJV

God gives us the opportunity to get right. He extends Himself to us in lovingkindness showing us that grace continues to be at work by His hand. Yet, we falter. Dividing your attention to the Lord to the intention of the world brings swift judgement.

Remember where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Matt. 6:21) . So…you’ve made your decision. But that’s not what God intended. A chosen generation and a royal priesthood of people, God expects more.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Ephesians 6:12-13 NKJV

So what responsibility do we hold as people of God to keep persisting in God and to not lose faith?

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:2 NKJV

A whole lot. In a world that’s fallen, we have to get up and show others that it’s possible too. But not by our own accord, in God alone can we do the things that He’s called us to do.
